I upgrated to IE 7 yesterday after much dismay, and am now having the following problem. When I view my email in hotmail or yahoo's web innerface, links are not always displayed. They show up on the screen just fine, acording to the sighted assistance I obtained, but jaws will not always recognize them. So, obviously, my question is why? Is there some setting that prevents jaws from interacting with IE correctly or something? Any and all help, as always, is greatly apreciated!

Set the Varvosity back to the lowest setting. I need to look to give you exact directions, but if you understand how to go to the jaws minues then you'll be fine. For speed call Freedom and the will walk you through this.

Upgrade to 9 of upi can. It works a lot better with IE7.

My verbocity is set to beginner already, so I'm not sure what else to do. I can't upgrade to 9, since I don't have an sma for it, nor the money to purchase it at the moment. Since we're on the topic of verbocity, if I do modify my verbovity settings in IE, will the changes made only effect the current window, or after you close it, will they apply to IE as a whole?

It is too bad you can't upgrade to 9, because it's true, JAWS 9 does work a whole lot better with IE 7. And if you change your verbosity settings through the config manager, it should apply to everything, not just IE.

Go to tools then manage Add-ons... and disable everything.

That might work disabling the add ons. IE 7 and 8 work just fine. 9 does give you more view, but 8 works fine. If all else fails reinstall IE. You also should update stuff like flash player, shockwave, and adobe. I am surprised at all the websites that require these even though it doesn't seem like they need them.

Lol. I'm using IE7 with Jaws8 (because I cant upgrade to 9 yet.), and it's just fine! Infact it seems sort of pointless to upgrade to 9. I mean what new features are in 9 that were not in 8 besides IE?

I was great advice. He'd go faster if he called FS though. Trouble shooting takes time, so if he called FS they'll sit on the phone and have him work his way through the fixes.

i think you should give fireFox a try, it works very well with jaws 8

Thanks Buck Buk Buck! Disabling add-ons solved the problem. If I get the chance this week, I might also give firefox a try just for fun. Sorry it took me so long to respond to this topic, I haven't had a reliable internet connection fr a few days until today.

Your welcome sir scott, now you can check what causes the problem exactly.

I'm also using the full version of JAWS 8 with IE7, I have a hotmail account as well and I haven't had any problems checking my Emails or sending new Emails. I'm also using a Toshiba Windows Vista laptop which of course, has IE7 and JAWS 8 on it. I really don't think it's worth forking out £150 (that's probably around $300) on JAWS 9 just yet. I mean, if IE8 didn't work with JAWS 8 if and when Microsoft upgrades Explorer again, then I would have to considder purchasing JAWS 9, but so long as I can use it with no need of sighted assistance just now, I'd rather save money and stick with JAWS 8.

the only problem i have with ie7 and jaws 8 is the page down and page up keys work like up and down arrows instead of doing what they're supose to do!

Scott, though this is off topic but since it was mentioned: Jaws 9 has one new feature that is really good where system tray popups can be accessed by the left click on the numPad. It is about time too.
